Human Non Small Cell Lung Cancer FFPE Sections

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a type of lung cancer that differs from small cell lung cancer (SCLC) in terms of its histological features and behavior. NSCLC accounts for the majority of lung cancer cases, representing about 85-90% of all diagnosed lung cancers.
There are several subtypes of non-small cell lung cancer, including adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. Each subtype has distinct characteristics based on the type of cells involved and their appearance under a microscope:
Adenocarcinoma: This is the most common subtype of NSCLC. It often arises in the outer regions of the lungs and is more frequently found in non-smokers and former smokers. Adenocarcinoma can occur in both peripheral and central areas of the lung.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma: This subtype usually develops in the lining of the bronchial tubes. It is often linked to a history of smoking and is more likely to be found centrally in the lungs.
Large Cell Carcinoma: This is a less common subtype and is characterized by large, abnormal-looking cells. Large cell carcinoma can occur in any part of the lung and tends to grow and spread quickly.
Unlike SCLC, NSCLC tends to grow more slowly, and it is often diagnosed at a later stage. Treatment options for non-small cell lung cancer depend on various factors, including the stage of the cancer, the specific subtype, and the overall health of the patient. Treatment modalities may include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy. Early detection through screenings and prompt medical attention are crucial for improving the chances of successful treatment outcomes.
VitroVivo Biotech provide high quality NSCLC FFEP setions for research. These FFPE slides can be used to perform RNA scope in situ hybridization (ISH), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), Immunofluorescence(IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC) and next-generation sequencing (NGS), etc.
